Art is an elusive term; Magic is much more understandable.
Magic, according to one definition, is:
“a quality of being beautiful and delightful in a way that seems remote from daily life”
– OED
I got into photography because I saw magic in the everyday, and I wanted to capture it. Bring it out. Enhance it. Because sometimes things happen in life than can cause people to lose sight of it, and it can happen to all of us.
Magic only appears when conditions are free of worry, coercion or control. Instead, it tends to present itself during times of play. Times when the sole purpose of engagement is enjoyment, or pleasure. Times when the go-to thought isn’t, “If I do this, will it make me money?” Times when you’re willing to ask, “What if…?”
To make magic, just relax. Breathe. Let go. Surrender to what comes. Accept the fact that what you produce may never be perfect, but be willing to create it anyway. Embrace the work, forget the outcome, and enjoy the process.
