I bought my first racquet and started my tennis journey in 2021. At first, all I did was hit the ball against a wall. Something about how simple it was to just focus on hitting the ball back and forth helped me relax after a stressful day at work. Eventually, other people would show up for the practice wall, and we’d start rallying with each other. So for me, tennis was a great way to get some fresh air and start being social again after all the isolation and burnout brought on by the pandemic.
By Spring/Summer of 2022, I started taking private lessons with a local coach, and eventually moved on to doing 2.5-level group lessons at the Tennis Centre in Surrey. When I moved back to Vancouver in 2023, I resumed 3.0-level group lessons at the Tennis BC HUB in Richmond. By end of 2024, I’d finally levelled up to 3.5 and decided it was time to start photographing the sport that I’d come to love playing.

Now that Spring is finally here, outdoor tennis season is starting up again.
